If you have ever found yourself in the situation where your mobile phone is low on battery and about to die when you are nowhere near your charger and your friend"s charger does not fit, this will be great news for you.
The universal mobile-phone charger will be available in every market worldwide on most top brand mobile phones to help reduce energy consumption, up to 50%, and also to reduce waste, where many throw away their chargers after their phone dies or is lost.
The target is set for 2012 when the universal charger will come into effect, which gives cell phone makers plenty of time to ready their devices. The GSMA, head of universal charger, has a backing of major corporations such as Vodafone, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and T-Mobile to all help introduce this charger in their phones.
Not only phones could see this change coming to their devices, as many portable MP3 players and other small portable electronic devices also require recharging. Apple did not join the list of companies, where Apple has a docking station or charger for some of its line up of devices including the iPhone and iPod line up.
