Following what Ubisoft called Watch Dogs 2"s biggest update, the game is now on track to receive another free update, which the company is calling the biggest online update yet. The upcoming update"s most significant addition is the four-player party mode, which, as evident by its name, will allow up to four players to play the game in co-op.
A two-player co-op has already been available in the game since launch, where players could explore the city of San Francisco in free roam and take part in cooperative activities.
To initiate the new four-player co-op mode, players can begin a public or private party with up to four friends, or even strangers via matchmaking. Once done, all participants will have the entire city at their fingertips to hack away at, with Watch Dogs 2 producer Kris Young saying: "Everything that’s in the city of San Francisco will be there, so you can immediately have some fun exploring San Francisco with four people.”
Ubisoft says the four player mode is intended to be a cooperative experience than a competitive one, with events such as "Bounties, Invasions, Loot Trucks, Races, Showd0wn, Man VS Machine Robot Fights, and the DedSec Virus" available to tackle together. Leaderboard standings will remain untouched while in a party.
The update will also bring about bug fixes, "adjustments, and gameplay balances", along with the fan-requested option to skip the 3D printer cinematic, and more.
The Watch Dogs 2 free update is slated to arrive on July 4 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Moreover, to celebrate US Independence Day, which falls on the same date, a special event will take place throughout the month of July. During the event, the paintball gun that was introduced in the last update will shoot red, white, and blue pellets, in addition to firework displays over the city.
