US Microsoft Store no longer stocking original Xbox One

It doesn’t seem like that long ago since the Xbox One was introduced – especially if you’re still lingering on the Xbox 360 and haven’t been paying too much attention to developments regarding the newer console. The Xbox One, however, was released almost four years ago now, and Microsoft is ready to end sales of the original Xbox One.

While the Xbox One is no longer listed for purchase in the US Microsoft Store, it is only sold out in the UK store, but is still listed; it’s unclear whether Microsoft will remove it from there, too. Users that still want an original Xbox One will have to settle for a refurbished model which sells for $199.

For those not yet on the newest generation of gaming consoles but want to get on board, Microsoft is offering the Xbox One S – a slimmed down version of the Xbox One – as the entry level model and plans to offer the upcoming Xbox One X for players that want a bit more oomph with enhanced games.

The news of Microsoft stopping sales of the original Xbox One comes on the back of reports that the Xbox One X is the fastest-selling Xbox pre-order ever. That console is due for release on November 7.
