Uwe Boll, the butt of many jokes from the gaming and movie communities due to his generally lackluster video game to movie translations, is blaming the game companies for his movies" poor showings at the box office.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Boll expressed his displeasure with game companies, which he says happily sell him licenses and then do nothing to support or promote the movie.
"They don"t do video game tie-ins, they don"t do cross promotions. They count on the fact that the movie will support the game sales, but they"re not willing to spend any money in cross-promoting anything. This is not healthy."
Boll specifically points to Sega"s support for
House of the Dead and Atari"s support for
Alone in the Dark. He pointed out that Atari was developed Alone in the Dark 5 alongside the release for his movie, but then closed the LA based studio which was developing the titled and never released it.
"The reality is that a lot of the video game companies are quite sloppy
- they are happy to sell the license, but then they don"t give a s***
about it, and this is not the right approach."
