VeriSign gobbles up .tv for $45m

Internet address and security provider VeriSign said on Monday it bought exclusive worldwide registry rights for ".tv" Web addresses, paying $45 million for .tv Corp International.

VeriSign said it expects the cash deal, which closed on Dec. 31, to add less than $1 million of revenues and $7 million to $10 million of net deferred revenues to fourth-quarter results.

The .tv top-level domain was owned by the Pacific Island nation of Tuvalu.
