Verizon FiOS offers Xbox 360 users free game, TV service

If you are a customer of Verizon"s fast FiOS Internet, TV and phone service you now have a new subscription option that will be a huge benefit if you own an Xbox 360 console. Verizon announced today that if you sign onto their Triple Play bundle deal for for $89.99 a month, Xbox 360 owners will get a 12 month free subscription to Xbox Live Gold, a $59.99 value.

In addition, those customers will get a free Xbox 360 game, the recently released first person shooter graphical remake Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary. The game normally is priced at $39.99. Verizon FiOS advertises itself as the number one ISP "delivering advertised download speeds" with upload and download speeds of 35 Mbps. This special offer will end on January 21, 2012.

In addition to the new subscription offer, News.com reports that beginning in December, Verizon FiOS customers will be able to download an Xbox Live app that will let them watch 26 cable TV channels via their Xbox 360 console. The specific channels have not yet been revealed but the channel selection on Xbox Live will apparently depend on which channel package the user is already signed up to use.

Xbox 360 owners are just a week away from the launch of the Xbox Dashboard update. On December 6, the update will go live and will add a new user interface and a number of new features, including expanded Kinect support and more.
