Verizon posts Froyo update instructions for the Droid

The original Droid by Motorola created a lot of waves when it first hit last fall.  It represented a new strategy for Verizon and the beginning of a new marketing campaign.

When the phone was launched it was slated as the iPhone killer, while that may not have materialized, it was a solid iPhone competitor that Verizon so desperately needed.  With the iconic red eye and "droid does" campaign, Verizon has embraced the Android platform and is using it for all of its worth.

The only thing awaiting current droned owners is Froyo, or version 2.2, which promises to bring a slew of new features and speed enhancements.  While the exact date is not known, the date is quickly approaching.

Verizon has posted up details on how to upgrade your device to 2.2 on its official page.  The website states that the update is mandatory and once prompted, you will be reminded every 30 minutes until you upgrade the device.
