Microsoft started running the TV commercial for the Surface Pro tablet in early February, and the spot was basically an extension of TV ad for the Windows RT in October. Both TV commercials were directed by Jon M. Chu, who has a new movie coming out next week, G.I. Joe Retaliation.
Today, Microsoft released a new video on its Surface YouTube channel that showed some of what it took for Chu and his team of dancers to compete the Surface Pro TV ad, which apparently has the name "The Vibe". The ad features choreography from Jamal Simms and Christopher Scott.
Chu says that they wanted the dancing in the Surface Pro commercial to be more organic than what was seen in the first Surface Pro ad, adding that the point of the ad was to make the Surface Pro tablet look like it was " . a part of who you are, a part of your soul." The ad brings back the lead character of the Surface RT ad, played by "Cloud" Campos in an office setting.
The final result certainly is an impressive mix of freestyle dance choreography and the video shows a little more of what it took to put it all together.
