Virgin, a UK phone carrier, has partnered with a new London-based smartphone brand, IMO (In My Opinion). Under the new agreement, Virgin Media will be first to offer IMO"s Q and S smartphones at prices starting from £29.99 (prepay) and £8.50 (monthly contract) respectively. The mobile hotspot, IMO Go, will also be available from £24.99 plus a monthly tariff.
In the companies" joint statement, they said:
“The IMO Q and IMO S handsets will appeal to families, young people and smartphone late adopters, bringing outstanding Android phones in “pocket money” range. These new Android-powered handsets will be the latest addition to Virgin Media"s current mobile offering, providing customers with more affordable smartphone options.”
The cheaper IMO Q has rock bottom specifications, just enough to run Android comfortably for casual use, the specs for the IMO Q are:
- Android 5.1 Lollipop
- 5MP Rear Facing Camera
- 2MP Front Facing Camera
- 1450mAh Battery
- 4” WVGA Screen
- 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM
- SC7731C Processor
- GSM/WCDMA Network Support (No 4G Support)
The more expensive IMO S will probably be more to the liking of most people, with more average specs than the IMO Q. The IMO S features:
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- 8MP Rear Facing Camera
- 5MP Front Facing Camera
- 1950mAh Battery
- 5” IPS Screen @ 1280*720
- 1.5GB RAM + 16GB ROM
- MT6735P Processor (Quad-core, 1Ghz)
- GSM/WCDMA/LTE Network Support (4G Support)
The portable hotspot, IMO Go, includes the following specs:
- Qualcomm MDM9207
- Weight
- 2500mAh Battery
- MicroSD up to 32GB
- WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
- Up to 32 users at a time
While the hotspot device might be good to pick up if you need a portable internet connection, the phones are mediocre and better budget phones can be found at places like Amazon for around the same price.
