The game publisher plans to release five PC games before the end of the year.
Virgin Interactive has announced that it will release five new PC games this holiday season. The publisher"s lineup features Codename: Outbreak, Original War, Screamer 4x4, Nightstone, and Jimmy White"s Cueball World.
Codename: Outbreak, formerly known as Venom, is a tactical first-person shooter set in a futuristic world that has been overrun by aliens. Players will simultaneously control both the main character and a sidekick as they try to destroy the alien creatures and save the planet. Codename: Outbreak was developed by GSC Game World, and it is scheduled for release later this year.
Original War is a real-time strategy game created by Czech developer Altar Interactive and released earlier this year in Europe. The game lets players command a US marine squadron, Arabic mercenaries, or Russian soldiers on a mission to go back in time to recover a valuable resource called siberium. The characters in the game all have unique attributes, and they can gain skill points after successfully completing different missions. Screamer 4x4 is an off-road racing simulation that features a wide range of licensed vehicles, including the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep CJ-7, Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover Defender, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes G Wagon, Mercedes Unimog, Mitsubishi Shogun, Toyota Pickup, and Raba. In addition, the game includes six different terrain types, varying weather, and more than 60 different racing tracks. The game"s single-player mode includes tutorial, free drive, championship, trophy, and pathfinder championship games, and the multiplayer mode includes catch up, destruction, first to point, king of the hill, and off-road rally games. Screamer 4x4 was developed by Clevers Software, and it is scheduled for release in November.
Nightstone is a real-time role-playing game set in a medieval fantasy world filled with caverns, dungeons, and dark forests. Players must battle their way through hordes of dangerous enemies on a quest to destroy an evil artifact known as the Nightstone. The game features 35 levels, more than 25 types of enemies, and three distinct playable characters. In addition to the single-player campaign, the game supports up to eight players over an Internet or LAN connection. Nightstone is scheduled for release later this year.
Jimmy White"s Cueball World is a realistic cue-ball sports simulation that features eight different real-world environments, accurate ball physics, and four subgames: stunt tables, maze tables, darts, and thumb wrestling. Jimmy White"s Cueball World will be available in stores by the end of the year.
