Microsoft has been busy iterating on its dev tools, and as we’re getting closer to the release date for Visual Studio 2015 we’re finding out more and more info, such as the new pricing and version availability.
Last night, Microsoft detailed its plans for distributing Visual Studio 2015, including some changes to the versions being offered as well as some major discounts for partners. For example the high-end versions of the tools will now be bundled into a single SKU. To be more precise, Visual Studio Premium and Visual Studio Ultimate are being rolled into one new solution called Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 with MSDN.
What’s more important here is that the new version, Enterprise 2015 with MSDN, will have a substantially reduced pricetag. The Enterprise SKU, while bundling all the features that came with an Ultimate subscription, will now cost you only $5,999 if you’re a new customer, or $2,569 for renewals. This is down from $13,299 and $4,249 on the Ultimate version previously.
And before you ask, yes, those on the Premium or Ultimate plans will be rolled-over to the Enterprise solution and benefit from the major discount once the tools launch later this summer.
