Vivo"s NEX handsets offer quite a stunning look with its nearly bezel-less front display and sleek design, but the real party trick of the phone is its motorized pop-up camera. While it is a clever way to implement the camera into the phone"s design, many have doubted its durability. In what could be seen as an attempt to quiet the naysayers, a new video has been published showing just how strong the cameras are in the Vivo NEXs.
The idea of the video is quite interesting, placing eight Vivo NEX handsets in a circle configuration, with the motorized pop-up cameras in the open position. A 40-kilogram glass piece is placed on the cameras, with each camera supporting five kilograms or around 11 pounds. This in itself is impressive, but the test is taken even further when a ballet dancer begins to perform on top of the glass that is supported by the phones.
During the video, you can see the camera modules flex as the dancer prances on the glass surface. She concludes her performance and the NEX smartphones appear to function as they should, being able to take photos with the camera that was previously being punished. This test is all well and good but it probably won"t silence those that are skeptical of the camera"s long-term durability.
