Vodafone has announced that it has created an in-house IoT tracker called Curve. The idea behind the gadget is that you keep it with important items such as your keys and the tracker will help you find them by pinging your phone with an up-to-date location. Thanks to the in-built SIM card, you can even keep a tab on items outside your home where you do not have Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Curve tracker includes the following technologies:
- A battery that lasts seven days
- Built-in SIM providing connectivity outdoors
- GPS, Wi-Fi, Cellular, and Bluetooth to ensure accurate location reporting
Commenting on the gadget, Lutfu Kitapci, Managing Director, Vodafone Consumer, said:
“Through driving the development of our own smart tech, we are helping bring customers added peace of mind.
“Created with leading industrial designers and connected by our global network, Curve’s versatility makes it the perfect way to keep track of what matters most, fitting seamlessly into everyday life.”
The uses for this device are quite numerous, you can attach them to your keys to help find them more easily, keep it in your bag just in case it’s ever lost or stolen, or you could keep it in your car to help you figure out where you parked too.
Vodafone says that the Curve is just the first in a series of new smart tech products that it plans to unveil in the next few months. The device is available in the UK for £20 but will require a separate Vodafone Smart SIM subscription which cost £2 monthly for a minimum of 24 months, or £3 monthly for a minimum of 12 months. To use the device, you’ll also need to download the Vodafone Smart App where you can activate one of the subscriptions.
