A new update is currently rolling out for Microsoft’s Wallet application on Windows 10 Mobile, adding support for loyalty cards from retail stores. With the new update, loyalty cards from top retailers can be scanned into the app, and saved for use in-store at a later date.
The update comes in the thick of the holiday shopping season, as buyers flock to retail stores and collect credit on their loyalty cards. While Windows 10 Mobile is yet to be distributed among a large number of handsets, it is encouraging to see the Wallet application getting some much-needed attention.
This update could be the first of many for Windows 10 Mobile"s Wallet app, potentially leading to the rumored addition of mobile payments for supported devices. With rival services such as Apple Pay and Google Wallet gaining traction, this would be another feature to convince users to make the jump to Windows 10 Mobile. The addition would join the current offering of tickets, passes, membership cards and coupons, making the app a more versatile alternative to physical passes and currency.
