Walmart is launching voice shopping powered by Google Assistant

Walmart is increasing its presence in the digital space thanks to a new partnership with Google. The retail giant is launching Walmart Voice Order this month, letting users buy their groceries more easily using their voice.

The feature will roll out to Google Assistant devices, including speakers, smart displays, and phones, and users can say "Hey Google, talk to Walmart" to get started. Then, they can add whatever items they want to their shopping list.

The voice capabilities will also evolve over time, says Walmart, and the software will learn the more you use it. That means that if you typically buy "1 gallon of 1% Great Value organic milk", once Walmart gets to know that, you can simply ask the Assistant to add milk to your shopping list, and it"ll automatically add the right kind.

As mentioned above, Walmart Voice Order is beginning to roll out this month, and it"ll be available to more and more users over the coming weeks. The move is likely an attempt at rivaling Amazon when it comes to online shopping, something it"s been trying to do for some time now.
