It was way back in 2013 when Canadian video game-maker Digital Extremes first announced the action third-person shooter title Warframe. The game has come a long way since then, with a sizable 60 million players at the moment. Currently, the free-to-play shooter is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Today the multiplayer online game was announced for the next-generation of consoles. Warframe will be making its way to the PlayStation 5 initially, with a launch scheduled for an unknown date this year. Xbox Series X and S users will have to wait until next year to get their hands on the looter shooter. The free-to-play title will run at up to 4K resolution and 60fps. It will also support cross-generation play.
PlayStation 5 owners will get to enjoy certain benefits as opposed to Xbox owners. The PS5 version of Warframe will take advantage of the console"s controller which has adaptive triggers for an immersive experience. Additionally, PS5 and PS4 owners will also get access to some free added content titled Warframe: PlayStation Plus Booster Pack worth $30. This pack will be exclusive to the Sony consoles.
An exact release date for the next-gen free-to-play title is still missing. It is likely that Digital Extremes will reveal this information soon as the PS5 version is slated for this year and December is nearby.
