The next cooperative project by Vermintide developer Fatshark was announced almost two years ago, this time taking players to another Warhammer universe. While originally having a 2021 launch window, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was delayed to this year, and now, the game has a firm launch date: September 13. Catch the new trailer above.
The four-player cooperative game has players diving into the hive city of Tertium to face hordes of enemies from Imperium and Chaos factions. A major focus is the combined ranged and melee combat system. The title adds gunplay to the mix on top of Vermintide"s popular melee combat, offering both Chainswords and Lasguns to tear through enemies in this popular sci-fi universe.
Players take the roles of "convict turned agents" serving the Inquisition to eliminate the corruption begun by Chaos cultists. Multiple classes with skill and loadout customizations are incoming too, alongside various cosmetic options to choose from.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is heading to PC via Steam as well as Xbox Series X|S as a console exclusive. Subscribers to Xbox and PC Game Pass will also be receiving the title on September 13 as a day-one release on the services.
