Ubisoft"s latest Watch Dogs entry Legion landed in October last year, and while it did not ship with any multiplayer content at launch, the studio planned to bring the feature to the game in December. However, those plans were pushed back in favor of fixing issues with the title. Today, Ubisoft finally announced the new release date of the multiplayer content, which is March 9.
The free update will allow up to four players to free roam and perform activities across London. The game"s iconic "play as anyone" mechanic will be available here as well, letting players mix and match different operators for making a competent (or not) team. Cooperative missions, a multi-stage end-game-focused challenge for coordinating teams, and a free-for-all deathmatch mode - involving armed Spiderbots - will be available at launch.
The online mode will be accessible via a standalone option via the main menu, and canonically, its storyline will be set after the campaign"s events. Also, Ubisoft does not mention the series popular Invasion feature being included in this release, which would let operatives hop into other players" single-player campaigns while disguised as NPCs. It may be planned for a future update.
The Watch Dogs: Legion online mode carrying update is heading to players across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Amazon Luna, and Ubisoft+ subscribers on March 9.
