Watch Microsoft's GDC Keynote here

Yesterday Microsoft held a keynote speech at GDC highlighting the company’s efforts in the gaming industry and the vision behind Windows 10. We highlighted each of the features discussed, but a picture is obviously worth a thousand words and a video of the event is basically priceless for fans of the subject matter.

Though Phil Spencer took the stage with a speech titled “The Future of Gaming on Windows 10 and Xbox”, the keynote itself was quite subdued and major announcements were, unfortunately, absent. Instead, as you can see in the video above, the company took its time to reiterate some of the features that will ship with Windows 10, and how its plans unify its Xbox and desktop strategies when it comes to gaming.

Among the features discussed were, the Universal Apps coming as part of Windows 10, DirectX 12 with its performance and energy improvements, the new unified Store than allows users to buy once and enjoy their games on any Windows 10 device, a new hardware accessory and so on.

Also worth mentioning is the new Xbox Live SDK that’s been released in preview and which brings all the Live APIs found on the console development kits to the desktop.

We’re hoping to see and hear a lot more about Xbox and gaming as we get closed to BUILD and the eventual launch of Windows 10.
