What can you do if you want the Apple Watch on the right side of the photo but can"t afford it? Aside from robbing your local Apple Store (which we"d highly advise against), your gold fever can be cured at a fraction of the cost. The solution? Ten dollar spray paint and a little DIY know how. In fact, this is exactly what Youtuber Casey Neistat did with his $399 Apple Watch Sport.
You may recognize Casey from some of the Apple videos he has done before. This particular video starts with some footage in the Apple Store showing the watches on display. After receiving his own watch in the mail, he goes about ripping open the packaging (rather violently) and preparing his workstation for the transformation. The video then details the entire process from covering the screen and sensor panel to a close up of the spray painting itself.
Neistat proudly holds up his new Apple Watch at the end of the video with a big smile. As expected, the paint job doesn"t exactly match that of the real Edition model and looks simply like a gold version of the Sport, From a distance, most people probably won"t be able to realize the difference, though we wouldn"t go to an Apple Store trying to return it.
The Apple Watch Just went on sale and we recently went hands on with the Edition model which runs $10,000 to $17,000.
