Weekend downloadable PC games sales for May 25-28

It"s not officially summer yet, but here in the US it"s now the long Memorial Day holiday weekend which is also traditionally the start of the summer tourist season. It"s also a time period where downloadable PC game sales tend to have more price cuts than normal.

This weekend on Steam, we have not one but two games available to play for free this weekend only. One is the WWII shooter Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. Tripwire Interactive is letting anyone play the full game for free from now until 4 pm ET on Sunday. That includes the new content that"s just been added to the game, including some new maps and gameplay modes.

If you want to purchase Red Orchestra 2, you can do so this weekend for just $9.99 for the standard version this weekend or $12.49 for all the extras in the Deluxe Edition. Both are 75 percent off their normal price.

2K Games" Civilization V is also free to play from now until 4 pm ET on Sunday via Steam. The game itself is on sale for $7.49 from now until Monday, a 75 percent savings. You can also get the Game of the Year edition for just $12.49 or save 75 percent off all the game"s DLC packs.

Steam also has a bunch of other games on sale including some indie titles like Super Meat Boy for $5.10 and World of Goo for just $3.

GameStop has a large number of games on sale this weekend, including titles in the Battlefield and Command and Conquer franchise. GoG.com also has a number of games for sale this weekend for 50 percent off their normal price. That includes games in the Commando series. GameFly has some strategy PC games on sale and its even offering a way to download Sword of the Stars Complete Collection for free if you are a GameFly member.
