Weekend PC Game Deals: An impressive Civilization VI bundle to start the year

Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place, every week, for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets.

It’s a brand new year and the recent bundle drought has finally come to an end. Kicking off the new year is a new Humble Monthly Bundle, and replacing last month"s trinity of early unlock games is Firaxis Games" massively popular 4X title, Civilization VI.

Beyond the base game, the early unlock also brings along two DLC packs: "Vikings Scenario Pack" and the "Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack." Although the DLC packs are certainly not needed to enjoy the game, the extras should spice up your path to global domination just a bit more.

As Civilization VI"s very first expansion pack, Rise and Fall, is set to drop in February, this is an excellent opportunity to pick up the base game for just $12. Also, don"t forget that this is just the bundle"s early unlock, with a number of additional games set to arrive on February 2 for all owners.

Up next is the Humble Staff Picks Bundle, where this time, the good folks running the show have chosen the games to include in the package. The bundle offers seven games in total, which are split into three tiers.

Starting off, paying a single dollar will net you copies of Punch Club, the indie management game; Tempest, the open-world pirate RPG; and LiEat, the indie 2D RPG.

If you opt for the "pay more than the average" tier, which is currently just below $6, you will also receive the stealth ninja title Aragami, Irrational Games" highly acclaimed and story-rich shooter Bioshock Infinite, as well as the dystopian strategy game where you play as a landlord, Beholder.

The third and final tier only has a single game on offer, Zachtronics"s puzzle and programming title, Shenzhen I/O. Also, if you"re a Humble Monthly subscriber, you will receive $2 in Humble Store credit for purchasing this tier.

Big Deals

With the beginning of a new year arrives a smaller than usual assortment of sales from a range of PC game stores, which we can probably attribute to all the Winter sales that just ended. Nonetheless, below we have a selection of handpicked deals for you to feast your eyes upon.

*DRM-free version is also included.

DRM-free Goodness

Now, with all those out of the way, let"s have a look at some DRM-free deals that are on offer at the GOG store. This week"s theme is "War Games."

Do keep in mind that availability and pricing for some deals may vary depending on the region you"re in.

And that is it for our pick of the new year"s very first PC game deals feature folks, and hopefully, some of you have enough self-restraint not to break the bank adding new games to your ever-growing backlogs. Of course, there is an enormous amount of other deals ready and waiting all over the interwebs if you comb through it hard enough, so keep your eyes open for those as well.
