Weekend PC Game Deals: Complete your collections and take to the skies

Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place, every week, for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets.

The freebies you can claim from the Epic Games Store this week are Obduction and Offworld Trading Company, which arrive as replacements for last week"s Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead and Ironcast freebies.

Obduction is a 2016-released sci-fi adventure game from the minds behind Myst, letting you explore alien landscapes littered with pieces of Earth from various times and places. VR support is included too. Meanwhile, Offworld Trading Company is a sci-fi real-time strategy title set on Mars that has you waging economic warfare against other companies that are also trying to control the Red Planet.

You have until July 22 to grab these two and add them to your Epic library. Up next in the freebie pipeline are copies of Verdun and Defense Grid: The Awakening.

The latest bundle Humble has put together is all about taking to the skies, either in planes or spaceships. The Take Control bundle comes loaded with six games, with some having VR support, and two premium campaign packs for the free-to-play War Thunder.

Going with the cheapest tier will land you a copy of SimplePlanes for $1. Bumping up to the second tier will cost you the bundle"s average price, which is currently at around $11, and it gets you Elite Dangerous and Overload. The third and final tier adds on five more items, them being Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone, Heliborne Collection, as well as the USA Pacific and Japanese Pacific campaign DLC packs for War Thunder.

The bundle will run for the next two weeks or so, ending on July 28 if no extensions come its way. Keep in mind Humble"s bundle money split sliders went through a change recently.

Free Events

Thanks to PAX Online, you can once again go through demos of upcoming indie games on Steam. Head to the event"s landing page here to pick out gameplay slices that catch your eye.

There are a couple of released games you can try out for free this weekend as well, giving you complete access to the experience for the duration.

Over on Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store, a free weekend for Ubisoft"s medieval fighting game For Honor is currently online with all game modes and maps available. Joining it in the temporary free-to-play world is Jetborne Racing. This free event for the indie racing game is running on Steam, giving you a seat on speeding VTOL aircrafts for multiplayer action in both desktop and VR formats.

Big Deals

With the beginning of the weekend arrives a wide assortment of sales, and as the latest major promotions are mostly behind us now, there"s not much of a theme going on for the available discounts. Find our highlights below:

DRM-free Goodness

Quite a few DRM-free games are discounted this weekend on the GOG store, mainly thanks to its new French Touch Sale. If you"re quick, you can also grab free copies of Syberia and its sequel by heading to the store"s front page. There are only a few hours left on this promotion, however.

Keep in mind that availability and pricing for some deals could vary depending on the region.

That"s it for our pick of this weekend"s PC game deals, and hopefully, some of you have enough self-restraint not to keep adding to your ever-growing backlogs. As always, there"s an enormous number of other deals ready and waiting all over the interwebs as well as in services you may already subscribe to if you comb through them, so keep your eyes open for those, and have a great weekend.
