Weekend PC Game Deals: Daily freebies, ceaseless coupons, and more

Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place, every week, for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets.

The end of the year holiday sale of the Epic Games Store began with another giveaway festival, offering you two weeks of daily games to claim for free instead of the usual weekly ones. It"s already on the second offer as well, with the freebie slot being filled by Neon Abyss following the Shenmue III giveaway from yesterday.

The title is a fast-paced rogue-like shooter where you are a member of the "Grim Squad", a team made by Hades himself to embark on journeys into the Abyss to defeat gods. It boasts random item drops that have stacking effects as a run goes on as well as unique dungeons with various endings that are tailored to your playstyle.

Neon Abyss is free to claim on the Epic Games Store via its store page. The next freebie is a mystery, with it slated to change at 11AM ET. If you"re reading this special a little late into the weekend, then the free game will have changed already. The $10 Epic Coupon has returned as well, which you can read about in the Big Deals section below.

A freebie also came in from Ubisoft this week as the 35th anniversary celebrations of the company continue. Rayman Origins is the final free game coming from the promotion.

The very highly rated 2011-released platformer offers over 60 levels to run, jump, fly and swim through. In addition to solo play as Rayman, you can have up to three more friends join in for a co-op adventure using drop in and out local play.

Ubisoft"s Rayman Origins freebie promotion will be available through December 22, and it is being offered for the Ubisoft Connect client of the company.

Free Events

It"s a free-to-play war between shooter giants this weekend, as both Activision and EA have brought free events to their recently released shooters.

You can try out Call of Duty: Vanguard"s multiplayer portion via the Battle.net client until December 21, with three playlists rolling out featuring the most popular game modes. Meanwhile over on Steam, DICE"s Battlefield 2042 is free to try out until Monday. The All-Out Warfare, Portal, and Hazard Zone modes are available during the period.

At the same time, free events are also ongoing for Ubisoft"s open-world RPG Assassin"s Creed Odyssey on the Ubisoft Connect launcher as well as the dinosaur-themed survival multiplayer game ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam.

Big Deals

The Steam Winter Sale is next week, but everyone else has already begun their own holiday sales. EA has also kicked off a sale for its EA Play subscription on Steam, offering a 50% discount for the annual plan. This drops the subscription"s price to just $14.99 for a year of access. Keep in mind if you"re a PC Game Pass member, you already have access to EA Play.

The biggest discounts currently available are easily from the Epic Games Store, which has brought back its coupon offer. This makes any game priced above $14.99 cheaper by $10 at checkout during its Winter Sale. Keep this in mind when browsing the highlights list for this weekend, seen below, as it displays the pre-coupon prices:

DRM-free Goodness

GOG isn"t slacking in the winter sale front either, bringing its own big promotion with thousands of DRM-free deals. Here"s a small selection of highlights:

Keep in mind that availability and pricing for some deals could vary depending on the region.

That"s it for our pick of this weekend"s PC game deals, and hopefully, some of you have enough self-restraint not to keep adding to your ever-growing backlogs. As always, there"s an enormous amount of other deals ready and waiting all over the interwebs as well as in services you may already subscribe to if you comb through them, so keep your eyes open for those, and have a great weekend.

Neowin may earn a small commission from qualifying purchases.
