With the promotional upgrade offers coming to a close, Microsoft is pushing the upgrade price for Windows 8 back up to $119 (for standard) or $199 (for Pro) come February 1st. This pricing is quite a considerable change from the $40 it was previously for an upgrade to Windows 8, and it brings the pricing in-line with Windows 7"s upgrade pricing.
Due to the extremely cheap price of Windows 8 this time around, it may have encouraged many users to purchase an upgrade as opposed to pirating one. Then again, an activation flaw in the way Microsoft handed out free Media Center codes was discovered, meaning many users could have gained a free, "legitimate" copy of Windows 8 with relatively little effort.
This weekend we want to know whether you"re running a legitimate copy of Windows or not. Don"t worry, all poll results are anonymous so we"re not going to report you to Microsoft if you confess to not having a legit copy. Whatever happens in the comments though, we can"t guarantee people aren"t judging you.
