Microsoft is about ready to formerly launch its unified communications strategy. That may be tomorrow, but what about the comm that matters to most people, today? So we ask: What do you want from your cell phone? Two weeks ago I sold my iPhone, after Apple released an update that "bricked" devices that had been unlocked. Relocking the phones would have made sense. Disabling them crossed a line of ownership. Even Microsoft gives users 30 days to activate before throttling back Windows Vista.
I once described using the iPhone as "life changing." But the change didn"t last long enough. On Friday, I replaced the iPhone with another Nokia N95, but now the US 3G version. I very much expected to miss the iPhone user interface, touch screen and Web experience. Absolutely "no" to the first two, and only "some" to the latter one. The N95-3 is hands-down the best cell I have ever used.
