The Free Software Foundation is working on the first overhaul of the GNU General Public License (GPL) in 13 years. Microsoft execs currently can recite from memory their various attacks on the GPL. So now that everything pertaining to the GPL, from IP licensing and patent coverage, to how to deal with networked services and trusted computing environments, is in flux, how will Microsoft respond? The so-called 3.0 release of the GPL is not imminent, but you can bet the Redmondians already are readying their crib sheets.
