WhatsApp has taken a page - or a feature, in this case - from competing apps and will soon be offering to let friends know where you are in real time.
The feature, called Live Location, lets users open a chat with the person or group you want to share with. The new option, found under "Location" in the attach button, will now let you "Share Live Location." You can also set a timer on how long you want your location shared before you send.
Your location can then be seen by everyone in the chat on a map. If others in the chat share their locations, they will pop up on the same map.
The option will be available for Android and iOS and should be rolling out in the next few weeks.
Facebook added a temporary location feature to Messenger back in May, while Telegram added the feature last week.
