WhatsApp now lets you draw on pictures, has front-facing flash on Android

WhatsApp users on Android should keep an eye on the Play Store, as their favorite chatting app is getting a big upgrade. Though the changes will also roll out to iOS soon, Android users can take advantage of some new WhatsApp camera features today.

First up is the new drawing feature, which lets users edit an image and draw on it or add emoji on top. You’ll have a few choices when it comes to your penmanship as you can change fonts and colors as well, to make sure you’re really conveying the message you want. The new editing options will show up when browsing the gallery or when taking a new picture while in the app.

Secondly, WhatsApp now wants to also help you take better selfies by implementing support for front-facing flash. This means that your photo quality should be better when taking selfies, especially in low-light, as the phone’s screen now lights you up using its backlight.

Finally, users will be able to switch between functions a lot easier. Want to switch between the world-facing and front-facing cameras? Just double tap the screen. Want to zoom in or out when filming? Simply drag your finger vertically on the screen.

All in all, this is more than just some small maintenance update, bringing a number of actually useful or desirable features to users. As mentioned above, the new version of WhatsApp is now available in the Play Store and it will soon show up on iOS as well.
