Wileyfox spotted promoting a Windows 10 phone at IFA 2017

Wileyfox is mostly known for its former Cyanogen OS-powered smartphones and the new inexpensive offerings based on its own Android fork. However, the company was working on a Windows 10-powered smartphone earlier this year and now it seems to be promoting the device at this year"s IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany.

Very surprised to see @Wileyfox offering a €249 Windows 10 smartphone. Apparently @Microsoft approached them to do it. pic.twitter.com/aaq7qH1IGW

As per the images posted by market analyst Ben Wood, the smartphone features significantly dated hardware specifications that are different from what was speculated earlier. The device is expected to be priced at €249 when it goes on sale in the fourth quarter this year in the UK. Under the hood, it features the following specs:

  • 5-inch HD IPS LCD screen
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor clocked at 1.1 GHz
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 8-megapixel front and 2-megapixel rear cameras
  • 2100 mAh battery
  • Cat4 4G LTE

It doesn"t seem like Wileyfox wants to pitch the device to anyone other than the business crowd. However, the pricing is quite poor for what the company is offering in terms of hardware and it might have to rethink before shipping the device to store shelves.
