Will the new iPhone house new antennas and a new battery?

September 12th can’t come quick enough for Apple fans around the world. That is the day Apple’s latest iPhone event is held and the new iPhone is expected to be unveiled.

A user from the WeiPhone forums has posted a couple of photos of what claim to be the motherboard (or logicboard) for the next iteration of the iPhone. If real, the part appears to be a prototype as there is no labelling or branding present.

With more antenna connections present, it adds fuel to the fire that the new iPhone will be Apples first LTE device. The photos do suggest that the new Nano-SIM format will be used in the handset. The new processor is not shown. Reports that Apple is testing an A5-2 processor, a tweaked version of what’s in the iPhone 4S, remain unconfirmed.

We have already reported on the higher capacity battery for the iPhone, the possibility of a new screen resolution and supposed images of the handsets casing.

As there is no confirmation on whether this is a genuine component, prototype, or a scrapped design, all we can really confirm is that the iPhone will have a slightly different design and specification. And that’s something we knew already.
