Here you go boys and girls, Winamp3 has reached RC4 and many (according to the changes list) changes were made. I would like to thank xStainDx, Dazog, and Toxikk for keeping our eyes peeled for this release.
Winamp 3.0 is built on top of an entirely new coding platform which gives developers unprecedented control and flexibility in their ability to customize the look and feel of the player, as well as its features and functionality. Every component of the Winamp player can be removed or replaced, enabling developers to create exactly what they want and integrate it quickly into Winamp. The "Wasabi" coding platform enables instant cross-platform functionality for supported platforms that will include Windows and Linux at launch. The Winamp player is the first full-featured application for this groundbreaking new coding platform.
"Winamp 3.0 takes customization to a completely new level," said Kevin Conroy, Head of AOL Music. "Winamp was originally designed to give third party developers and skin designers a great deal of flexibility, and this new version will provide an even richer system for developers to implement their creative vision. Our new coding platform provides developers with near complete freedom in their ability to create and customize applications."
With Winamp, third party developers and skin designers have a much richer system to work with and implement their creative images with version 3.0. The small, compact player will appeal in particular to developers who are looking for the ability to completely customize the look and feel, as well as target particular features and functionality to deploy.
