Windows 10 build 10051: A closer look at the new Mail app

A new build of Windows 10 has leaked and with it comes an update to the mail app. For those of you who are curious about the app but don"t want to install this leaked build, we have a gallery posted below.

The first obvious update is that the UI has been overhauled with this release. It has become clear that Microsoft is updating every aspect of the OS and now it is time to address the apps that are coming to Windows 10 that were also in Windows 8.

The app feels much like any other email applications with a listing of your emails on the left, sorting options in the far left column and your response options along the header. Clicking the hamburger menu in the top left opens the "New Mail" panel.

The background image can also be changed from the options menu and you also have the ability to turn off/on swipe actions; the ability to define the swipe actions is also presented in the options menu as well.

When writing an email, at the top you have the Format, Insert and Review headers (see gallery below) that feature the options you would expect for formatting an email.

In short, it"s a basic email app that should fill the needs for the casual user, and the new UI feels clean and polished. Knowing that this app has been overhauled, we expect all of the other included apps in Windows 10 to receive similar UI updates.

Also, for those curious, 10051 appears to be less stable than 10049 for us, so proceed with caution if you install the build.
