Windows 10 build 18234 shows up for Skip Ahead Insiders - here's what's new

The last time that Microsoft released a new Windows 10 Insider Preview for Insiders on the Skip Ahead subset of the Fast ring, it was on August 16 when we got build 18219. There have been some bugs that the team had to work out since then, which is why it"s been almost three weeks, but today, Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview build 18234.

The build is a preview from the 19H1 development branch. 19H1 is the codename for the version of Windows 10 that will follow the upcoming October 2018 Update. While the last five versions were codenamed Redstone (before that, it was Threshold), Microsoft is abandoning it in favor of codenames that reflect the time period that the update will be released, even if they"re not as fun to say.

As far as new features go, this build is pretty light on them. As you can probably guess, the announcement called out the recent Sticky Notes 3.0 update, and inking support in Microsoft To-Do. These aren"t actually features that come with the build though, as they"ve already arrived as app updates.

Microsoft also called out some improvements to Snip & Sketch:

We recently flighted version 10.1807.2286.0 of Snip & Sketch (née Screen Sketch) to Skip Ahead, which included the highly requested delay snip feature. There was a bug in Build 18219 blocking the New button from working, so please try it out today once you upgrade! Just click the chevron next to the New button in the app and you’ll now find options to “Snip now”, “Snip in 3 seconds”, and “Snip in 10 seconds”. If you have the app open or pinned to your taskbar, you can also just right click the icon in the taskbar to get these options, since we’ve added them to the jump list – let us know what you’d like to see next!

If you"re on the Skip Ahead subset of the Fast ring, you can get today"s build via Windows Update. If not, it"s too late to join, as there"s limited availability. Luckily, the Windows 10 October 2018 Update will be available in about a month, and then Fast ring Insiders will be able to start testing 19H1.
