Windows 10: Cortana will soon show notifications in the taskbar, here's what they look like

Microsoft is making quite the wave this morning with the announcement of Windows 10"s release date and that you can now pre-order your copy of the free upgrade too. Along with these two announcements, the company also pushed out several promotional videos that highlight previously unseen features.

Cortana plays a large roll in Windows 10 and Microsoft is hoping that users realize the full potential of the platform as it is a important user experience on Windows 10. While the company has been letting Insiders play with the new feature for several months, it looks like taskbar notifications will soon be coming to the platform.

For us, and those we asked on Twitter, we have not had Cortana provide a notification inside the taskbar like you see in the gif above. This style of notification is a subtle yet easy way to interact with the user and provide relevant information without taking over any portion of the screen. Let us know if you have seen this style of notification in Windows 10 but it appears that most users have not had this occur for them.

Microsoft is expanding Cortana"s functionality at a rapid pace, sometimes with modest improvements to like this notification style and other times by adding a bit more personality to the digital personal assistant. And for those of you who are not using Windows phone, Microsoft will be bringing Cortana to you as well with new apps on iOS and Android in the near future.

You can watch the entire video where this notification was spotted above but know that the notification starts at the 1:25 mark.
