Back at its Windows 10 event last month, Microsoft refrained from talking too much about the upcoming phone and tablet version of the OS. However, thanks to a seemingly careless employee we got to find out a bit more about the new UI coming to Windows 10 for phones.
A Finnish company employee tweeted and then quickly deleted the image you see above. In it you can clearly see a Windows Phone that has a very distinct UI element: a double long tile. It’s exactly the same as the familiar doublewide tile, only it’s vertical. Careful observers will also note that that is in fact the People Hub.
The image was quickly deleted after publication and there’s no obvious reason why a company employee would fake this. And we know that Microsoft is currently dogfooding a preview version of the OS to its employees. With so many pieces lining up nicely we’re very inclined to believe this is the real deal.
Windows Phone was also very distinctive which was its primary appeal for some. It will be very interesting to see how Microsoft pushes the UI and design language of its OS forward and how it evolves in its new form.
Here’s hoping that preview version comes out sooner rather than later.
