Windows 10 Home users to be able to defer updates for up to 35 days

Windows 10 updates have had a tendency to be somewhat troublesome, and Microsoft is apparently working on ways to make things a little easier for users. Yesterday, a newly-discovered support page indicated that the OS will automatically uninstall updates that cause your system to be unusable, and now, it looks like it"s providing more options when it comes to pausing updates.

Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education users have had a setting for pausing updates since the Creators Update was released in 2017, but the standard Home edition of Windows 10 is currently forced to get any update coming from Microsoft. If you"ve been running Insider builds, however, you may have noticed the ability to pause updates for up to seven days on your machine, even if you"re running Windows 10 Home.

Even better, it looks like you may be able to pause updates for up to 35 days, the same amount of time as in the more expensive editions of Windows 10. With yesterday"s release of build 18356 to Insiders in the Fast Ring, Reddit user Leopeva64-2 noticed that, when the build is freshly installed from an ISO, the seven-day limit is lifted to 35. This is the same behavior as what"s seen on Windows 10 Pro, where even Insiders can only delay updates for a week.

After the fiasco that was the public release of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, users will be happy to see that Microsoft is giving users more options when it comes to installing updates. This should help prevent similar situations in the future.
