Windows 10 management capabilities get detailed

When Windows 10 arrives next year, it will bring with it a plethora of consumer features and for those of you who work on the administrative side of technology - keeping things running - there will be plenty of bits included as well to make your lives easier. We have already heard about improvements to security and today Microsoft is providing new information on the management capabilities of the new OS.

From an identity perspective, in Windows 10, Microsoft is adding the ability to use Azure Active Directory. Devices can be connected to Azure AD, and users can login to Windows with Azure AD accounts or add their Azure ID to gain access to business apps and resources.

When it came to device management, the capabilities provided in Windows 8.1, Microsoft said that they were focused on BYOD scenarios. With Windows 10, they are extending MDM support in order to better manage corporate-owned devices, supporting the configuration of Enterprise Data Protection policies, support for managing multiple users, full control over the Windows Store, VPN configuration, full device wipe capabilities, and much more.

While these features may not excite the consumer, they will go a long way to helping corporations who adopt Windows 10, adapt their workforce to the modern environment. This is an important aspect for Microsoft and enterprise, most of whom will be upgrading from Windows 7, so making sure that there are plenty of enterprise features in Windows 10 is essential in Microsoft"s quest to ensure that Windows 7 is not the new Windows XP.
