Windows 10 reportedly exceeds 120 million installs in three months

Three months ago, Microsoft officially released Windows 10 as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users. Just 24 hours after release, the company announced that the OS had been installed on more than 14 million devices. Three weeks after release, this number had bounded past 53 million and earlier this month, the Redmond giant officially announced that its latest OS was running on 110 million devices. Today, a new report has emerged claiming that Windows 10 installations have now surpassed 120 million.

While the rate of installations of the OS has evidently slowed down, 120 million machines running Microsoft"s latest operating system is no mean feat. Microsoft has said that it aims to have at least 1 billion devices running Windows 10 in two or three years, and it"s clearly made some good progress so far.

With the new Xbox One Experience coming in November, the same month in which the Windows 10 Threshold 2 update is also expected to land, the new OS looks set to go grow even further before the year"s end. These updates will be followed by the rollout of Windows 10 Mobile in December, and then the Windows Redstone update in 2016.
