Razer"s long awaited Windows 8-based gaming PC tablet, the Razer Edge, is almost ready for the masses. Razer announced today that it would start taking pre-orders for the tablet starting this Friday, March 1, at 12:01 am Pacific Standard Time (3:01 am EST).
Razer"s press release stated that shipments of the Razer Edge would start later in March, but no specific date was mentioned. The 10.1-inch tablet will have an Intel Core i5 processor, an NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 64GB SSD. It will be priced at $999. Razer will also sell a second model, the Razer Edge Pro, that will have a faster Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. A 128GB version will sell for $1,299 and a 256GB version will sell for $1,499.
Alongside the Razer Edge and Edge Pro will be a series of accessories, including a Gamepad Controller for $249.99 that adds two game controllers, one on either side of the tablet. There will also be an optional docking station for the tablet sold for $99.99 that will serve as a charging station for the Razer Edge. It will also add three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, a microphone port and a stereo headset port. Razer will launch a Keyboard Dock for the tablet in the third quarter of 2013 for $199.99.
