HP has already announced it plans to offer up a tablet device running Windows 8 that will be made specifically for business users with increased security features. Now HP"s biggest rival Dell has announced it will also offer a similar business tablet that will run on Windows 8.
Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell, speaking to Bloomberg, said of the upcoming business tablet, "Having a secure Windows tablet that works with all the Windows applications -- we’re hearing a lot of demand for that and we think that will be quite attractive."
In addition, Amit Midha, president of Dell’s Asia division, said today that Dell wants to “lead the market” in selling Windows 8-based tablets but also said that the company will still sell tablets that will run on Google"s Android OS. He added, "Both the tablet and the smartphone form factors you’ll see us participating in, but the tablet side is a much higher priority for us."
As expected, Dell plans to sell some kind of Windows 8-based products, including of course PCs, as soon as Microsoft officially launches the OS, with Michael Dell saying, "We’ll be there right on the very first day that Windows 8 is available."
