When a PC or PC-related device has been approved by Microsoft to work on a version of Windows, it also gets permission to show the Windows certified logo on its product. Today, the reliable Winunleaked.info site (the new name and domain for the WinUnleaked.tk website) has posted up an image (free registration required) that it claims shows the design of the Windows 8 Compatibility logo, also known as "certification artwork."
The image shows a number of different colors for the design, all of which have the official Windows 8 logo that Microsoft first announced a few months ago. The logo seems to come in light blue, dark blue, purple and black versions. The logos also come in designs that have either a colored background and a white logo, or the other way around.
If this design is indeed correct and not a hoax, it would represent yet another change in Microsoft"s logo style, since previous Windows certification logos have all had one basic design without all of the different colored versions. Winunleaked.info claims it will also show the compatibility logos for Windows RT-based devices "soon".
We have contacted Microsoft to find out if these logo are indeed genuine.
