Windows 8 overtakes Android in web traffic

Windows 8 launched on the 26th of October so it’s only been on the market for a couple of weeks but StatCounter is reporting it has already surpassed Android when in comes to internet traffic.

StatCounter aggregates data from a variety of sources, and as you can see in the image above they are saying there are more users surfing the web on Windows 8 than on Android devices. Of course that isn’t a big surprise, as the potential user base for Windows 8 is huge, but even so it’s pretty impressive for an OS that’s only 2 weeks old.

As for Microsoft, the only thing they’ve said is that they had sold 4 million copies of their new OS but that was only four days after launch. If StatCounter data is to be believed that means sales are strong and perhaps have even accelerated. Next up, overtaking iOS which according to Microsoft-News will happen in about a month"s time bringing into question the whole "post pc era" mantra.

What about you folks, have you upgraded to Windows 8 or are you holding off? Let us know below.
