If you are using the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, you may have already downloaded Discourse from the Windows Store. It"s a Metro-style news aggregator app that also serves as an offline news reader. This week, the software developer Kindred Intellect has released a new version of the Discourse app for Windows 8"s early users.
The update page says that the new version of the Discourse app was made for the upcoming Release Preview version of Windows 8, which Microsoft says it will launch in the first week of June. The app works with the x86 and ARM versions of Windows 8. The new version includes improvements to the software"s navigation, along with some layout changes.
The new version also adds support for Windows 8"s Search charm for searching in the app"s news sections. Finally, some performance and reliability improvements have been made.
While the Discourse app has its own default news sections, users can customize the app to add their own Atom or RSS feeds or even add and remove entire news sections. The app lets users see summaries of the news articles in each section and clicking or tapping on a individual article will bring up the full version. You can also click or tap on the Save Story feature to download the article to read offline.
