Intel wants to show off a bunch of Windows 8 tablets with its processor inside and next week, the company will do exactly that in a press event in San Fransisco on September 27th. In an invite sent to select media outlets, the list of companies that will be showcased at the event includes one that officially has yet to reveal its Windows 8 plans.
News.com reports that the Chinese-based ZTE was listed among those PC makers who will be participating in the press event. While the company has yet to officially confirm a Windows 8 tablet, Dennis Lui, ZTE’s phone marketing strategy manager, "leaked" what looks like a Windows 8 tablet in an image on his Sina Weibo account earlier this week.
Other companies that will be a part of Intel"s Windows 8 tablet event include Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung. All of them have shown upcoming Windows 8-based tablets or notebook-tablet hybrid devices during the IFA 2012 trade show in late August.
Most of these tablets will run on what Intel calls its Clover Trail processor. Intel is facing some competition this year with a few tablets that will run on Windows RT, which runs on processors made via ARM"s design. That including Microsoft"s own Surface tablet which will debut in late October (An Intel-based Windows 8 Pro Surface will launch in late January).
