Microsoft is gearing up for another update to Windows 8.1 that is rumored to arrive this spring. We have been hearing about the update for some time, though few concrete details have surfaced. Sure, we have heard about the "Threshold" update, but the purported spring update appears to be a different beast from that.
According to a report by Win8China, the spring update will be completed in March and possibly either be announced or released at the company"s BUILD conference the following month – an online translation of the site isn"t clear about the timing.
The source notes that the update will be minor and not result in a version bump for the platform. In other words, this is not Windows 8.2, so don’t expect any major new features to be included.
With BUILD still a few months away, we fully expect to hear more about this update before then. Considering that the actual build leaks typically occur when OEMs receive them, the March timeframe seems like a logical time when a leaked build may make its way to the web.
Thanks for the tip, Faikee!
