There has been a lot of excitement around Microsoft’s upcoming update to the Windows Phone platform. It was only a few weeks ago that Mango was officially released to manufacturing and now it is being pegged that September 1 will be the consumer release date.
According to Pocket Lint, they are citing multiple sources claiming that September 1 will be the day that Mango gets released. Although, this date does come before the "Fall" (starts September 23) announcement Microsoft made but does align to IFA.. IFA is Europe"s largest consumer electronics show in Berlin, and if announced on this date, would allow companies such as Samsung, ZTE, LG , ACER and more to show off new devices with Mango installed.
Further, it is rumored that Nokia will also show off its first Windows Phone device at the Nokia World Conference. With the release/announcement of new hardware, it will help Microsoft build its portfolio of devices in the months leading up to holiday shopping season.
If you have been waiting for Mango, it looks like you may only have a few more weeks to hold off. Ironically, Apple is also supposed to be announcing the iPhone 5 around this same timeframe. It seems unlikely that this would be a coincidence that Apple updates their popular phone around the same time many new Windows Phone devices are announced.
