Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update may arrive next week

Anyone with a Windows Phone knows that their handset is going to be getting even better when the Mango update for the operating system arrives. Microsoft has promised over 500 improvements to its mobile OS that will bring exciting new features and expanded functionality to just about every aspect of Windows Phone. But despite all the info it’s been sharing on all the juicy Mango goodness that’s on its way, the company has been frustratingly tight-lipped on exactly when the fruit will drop.

With the first Mango phone already on sale in Japan, and HTC’s first Windows Phone 7.5 handsets, Radar and TITAN, due to go on sale next month, the wait must surely be almost over. In fact, the guys from Windows Phone Dev Podcast believe that we may only have a few more days until Mango is officially released.

WPSauce.com picked up on a little nugget of info dropped at the end of the latest podcast, episode 33, which seems to give the game away:

Next week is going to be a BIG week for Windows Phone. We have been told by various sources that Mango will be dropping, and the final tools will be dropping for developers. So that should be interesting and something to look forward to.”

Now, this obviously just adds to the mix of speculation and rumours that have been floating around out there, but as WMPowerUser points out, the WP Dev Podcast has a proven record of reliability, including accurately predicting the release date for the Mango developer beta.

Their info also gels with some clues that WPCentral pieced together a couple of weeks back, pointing to a Mango release date of September 15. Of course, we won’t know anything for sure until Microsoft actually breaks its silence and makes an official announcement, but we live in hope that we can taste that delicious Mango pretty soon.
