Windows Phone 8’s release is coming up fast. With October 25th scheduled as the official media launch event of Windows 8, October 29th has been pencilled in for the official Windows Phone 8 media launch event. Until now, San Francisco was the only place to be holding such an event, but we can now add London to the list!
So at 5pm GMT, we are going to get the first proper and official look, outside of the Nokia and HTC product launches, of Windows Phone 8 and its features.
While it’s not too much of a stretch to see hardware like the Nokia Lumia 920, HTC Windows Phone 8X and Samsung ATIV S showing off the OS, the features such as lock screen notifications and Children’s Corner that have already been seen in images and videos will be given the corporate gloss. I can’t see Steve Balmer dancing in London, but he’ll probably be at the San Francisco one.
Now it’s time for some wild, but not entirely implausible speculation. With the San Francisco event kicking off at 10AM PST and the London event at 5PM GMT, could we see a video link up between the events, possibly via a Windows Phone 8 Skype video call? It’s not outside the realms of possibility, especially as the clocks in the UK go back an hour on October 28th. That would bring the start of both events in sync. It’s exciting just thinking about it!
