Amid all the craziness that’s being unleashed at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference, Microsoft decided to do a silent release of a new version of Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview.
The new build bumps the OS to 8.10.12393.890 though the changes involved aren’t mentioned anywhere. This is the second such update the mobile OS has received and we’re likely looking at more bug fixes ahead of the expected public launch of Windows Phone 8.1 this month.
Some were also hoping this update might bring Cortana availability to the UK, as Microsoft had teased recently. The company’s digital assistant is only available officially in the US but the service is expected to jump the pond to the United Kingdom in the not-too-distant future.
Your Windows Phones will notify you about the update when they periodically check Microsoft’s servers but if you can’t wait you can head over to Settings, tap on Phone Update and then Check for updates. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.
